The Prime Minister has recently approved a master plan for the Dien Bien Phu - Pa Khoang tourism zone in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien by 2020, with a vision extending to 2030.
The tourism zone is expected to become an attractive national tourism destination, consisting of modern infrastructure and high quality tourism products featuring the northwestern provinces’ cultural characteristics and historical value of the Dien Bien Phu historical relic site, Pa Khoang Lake and Muong Phang historical and cultural forest.
The Dien Bien Phu - Pa Khoang tourism zone promises to become a highlight on the northwest provinces tourism line, helping to further socio-economic development in Dien Bien province, located in the northern midlands and mountainous region.
Covering an area of 2,500 hectares, the tourism zone is expected to welcome 1.5 million domestic and international visitors and offer 10,000 job opportunities in 2030. Total revenue from the tourists is predicted to reach VND5,000 billion by 2030.
A series of tourism products, including historical - cultural tourism; ecological tourism; community tourism; festival tourism; and trade tourism, will be given priority for development.
