The workshop aimed to discuss on how to use effectively the technical materials on responsible tourism (developed by the project) as well as to bring opportunity for education and training providers to exchange and share their knowledge on tourism training and vocational education based on technical materials developed by the EU-ESRT project.
At the workshop, paticipants discussed the future improvement and sustainability of TVET in Viet Nam, the continuation application of VTOS and a responsible transmission process to turn Viet Nam Tourism Certification Board into Viet Nam Tourism Professional Board; shared experiences in integrating VTOS in their curriculum; introduced a scientific approach to incorporate responsible tourism into the tourism education landscape…
Accordingly, the recent Employment Law (effective from Jan 1st, 2015) and Vocational Education Law (effective from July 1st, 2015) were prepared for ASEAN integration in January 2016 and its mandatory requirements to ensure that the national occupation skills standards comply with ASEAN MRA have presented Viet Nam with a clear way forward in relation to the tourism sector.
Therefore, “It’s now the responsibility of all the stakeholders to embrace their own important role and work collectively to strengthen tourism education and training, to enable Viet Nam become a world class tourism destination with the associated human capital skills and services that meet the needs of a growing tourism sector”, ESRT Team Leader, Ms. Mary McKeon said at the workshop.
