Update: Sep 04, 2015
The Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Culture and Tourism Village in the Dong Mo tourism area of Son Tay town organized a cultural programme with a participation of ethic groups from Lai Chau province on September 2-6.

The event attracts more than 60 artisans, elders, and locals of Mong, Ha Nhi, La Hu, Mang and Si La ethnic groups.

The five-day celebration, from September 2 to 6, has kicked off traditional dances, music and folk games of every ethnic group living in the northern mountainous area.

On the morning of September 2, a ceremony worshipping the gods to pray for good health and bumper crops was organized. The guests and the hosts then joined in singing and dancing and enjoyed a festival.

On the evening of September 3, visitors discovered many rituals of the ethnic groups, such as a house warming party of Mang people.

Continually, a ritual to greet the rainy season of Ha Nhi group will be organized on the morning of September 5 and a wedding ceremony of the Si La group on the morning of September 6.

While the “le vao nha moi” (ritual ceremony to enter a new house) of the Mang ethnic people was held on Thursday afternoon (September 3), the “le cung ban” ceremony of the La Hu people to pray for bumper crops takes place on Friday (September 4) morning.

A Ha Nhi ritual to pray for rain and a wedding ceremony of the Si La people will be organised on Sunday and Monday morning, respectively.

The visitors will also be invited to take part in folk song and dance performances, folk games, or enjoy indigenous dishes of the locality such as thang co (hotpot of horse or beef meat), men men (steamed ground maize), xoi tam sac (three-colour glutinous rice), roasted pig and chicken.
