Update: May 27, 2025
Early morning light filters through ancient pine forests on Ziliêng mountain, casting a golden glow over Tay Giang’s pristine wilderness.

Foreigners visit Tay Giang.

This remote district in Quang Nam province offers a rare blend of untouched nature and rich indigenous Cơ Tu culture.

Australian tourist John and his friends Kate and Emily were guided by Poloong Plenh, Deputy Head of Tay Giang’s Culture Department, who explained local customs such as seeking permission from forest spirits before entering the sacred pine forests.

Tay Giang’s pine forest, with over 1,200 ancient trees, most recognised as Vietnam Heritage Trees, stands majestically at more than 1,500 meters altitude. Visitors are awed by the towering trees and the cathedral-like natural scenery.

Nearby, the rhododendron forest on A-ruung mountain blooms vibrantly each spring, blanketing 450 hectares in dazzling colours. Emily described the scene as a giant natural brocade tapestry, unlike any other mountain she has visited in Asia.

Besides nature, the warm, simple culture of the Co Tu people deeply impresses visitors. In Porning village, visitors can experience traditional brocade weaving and festive dances.

John bought a handwoven cloth as a meaningful souvenir, symbolising the unique stories woven into the local patterns.

Tay Giang also boasts breathtaking spots like the white, cool Rơ-cung waterfall and the golden Chuor terraced fields, rivalling the famous landscapes of Vietnam’s Northwest.

As the group left, John expressed amazement at Vietnam’s hidden gem, a place of stunning nature and welcoming people. Tay Giang continues to develop as a green tourism destination, inviting travellers to explore its forests, cultures, and scenic beauty.
