(TITC) – On 5 Oct 2015, in Hai Phong City, Deputy Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Ha Van Sieu had a meeting with Ambassadors and Consuls of several Diplomatic Missions in Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Mr. Ha Van Sieu informed that tourism is considered as one of the most important economic sectors in Viet Nam. In 2004, Viet Nam welcomed approximately 2.92 million international tourist arrivals; in 2014, that number increased to over 7.87 million arrivals; achieving annual average growth rate of 10.4%. Furthermore, the tourist source markets have been diversified including Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America and other continents.
Viet Nam tourism sector is focusing on developing infrastructure, facilities and quality human resources; besides modernizing transportation system, accommodations, amusement parks aiming to satisfy increasing demands of tourists.
He highly valued effective support of diplomatic missions in Viet Nam in terms of tourism cooperation and promotion of Viet Nam. Viet Nam hopes to build warm relationships with all countries and calls for collaboration of diplomatic missions to connect Viet Nam with foreign tourism authorities and enterprises.
Representatives of diplomatic missions in Viet Nam took part in a field trip in
Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City
On this occasion, a field trip with participation of the representatives of diplomatic missions in Viet Nam was organized from 3 to 5 Oct, visting some attractions in Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City such as Ha Long Bay, Yen Duc tourist village, Hai Phong City Theatre, Hang Kenh Communal House and Monument of General Le Chan.
The Ambassadors appreciated the beauty of Viet Nam in general and Quang Ninh Province, Hai Phong City in particular. Viet Nam should further improve infrastructure and focus on sustainable tourism development. In addition, the Ambassadors suggested that Viet Nam should consider to expand visa waiver programe to facilitate tourists travel to Viet Nam. Diplomatic Missions in Viet Nam are ready to support Viet Nam to hold or take part in tourism events in their countries and exchange FAM trip, press trip with Viet Nam in coming time.
