Organizing workshop about Memory of the World Committee for Asia- Pacific 2016

Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism informs that Hue city will host the workshop about Memory of the World Committee for Asia-Pacific on May 11-14,2016.
Woodblocks of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda

The workshop will contribute to propagandize picture of Viet Nam’s land to the world through a system of cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage nowadays; enhance tourism development. It is a chance for some countries of the MOWCAP to protect some values of heritages and select collection of typical document to mark some requirements; supply source of rare document to serve scientific research of the community. From that, building document turns into item of Documentary Heritage belongs to World Memory Program of the UNESCO.

At the moment, Viet Nam has four elements inscribed as documentary heritage under the UNESCO Memory of the World Program including: the Woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty, inscribed in 2009; the 82 stone stele records of Royal Examinations of the Le and Mac Dynasties in the Temple of Literature, inscribed in 2010; the Woodblocks of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, inscribed in 2012; and the Imperial Records of the Nguyen Dynasty, inscribed in 2014.
