The exhibition ‘World Heritage Sites in ASEAN’ attracted a large number of visitors

An exhibition themed ‘Handicraft trade villages and streets in Thang Long - Ha Noi’ officially kicked off on November 19 at the Ha Noi Museum.

On display are photos, objects and models related to trade villages and streets of Ha Noi including Dong Xuan market, Ha Noi’s Old Quarter, relic sites worshipping ancestors of handicrafts, Hang Trong paintings, Bat Trang pottery products, water puppets and tools used for making papers.

Notably, visitors will have a chance to learn about the process of crafting pottery products demonstrated by Bat Trang villagers in Gia Lam district.

In addition, 33 photos featuring world heritage sites in ASEAN countries are being showcased at an exhibition, which opened at the Thang Long Royal Citadel. The exhibits are the most outstanding photos from 161 entries submitted to the contest ‘Discovering world heritages in Viet Nam and ASEAN countries’ that was launched in August.

On the occasion, the Ha Noi municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also organised the ‘Viet Nam Intangible Cultural Heritages and Young Ambassadors Festival’ featuring five performances of Ca tru (ceremonial singing), Trong quan singing (a unique art form in Bac Ninh province), Cheo (traditional opera), Xoan singing and Quan ho (love duet singing).

The seven-day event aims to convey a message that national cultural heritages hold tremendous significance, evidenced by the inheritance of younger generations.

The Thang Long - Ha Noi Cultural Heritage Association also held a festival at So Thuong temple in Yen So ward, Hoang Mai district, for 17 rituals performing and incense offering teams around the capital to meet and make exchanges.

Notably, a range of other unique cultural activities began on the same day at four locations in Ha Noi’s Old Quarter to mark Viet Nam’s Cultural Heritage Day.
