Ha Noi: Historical relics and tourist sites honour President Ho Chi Minh

To mark the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), numerous historical sites and tourist destinations across Ha Noi are holding meaningful events and activities.

The Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace will host the exhibition “President Ho Chi Minh: The essence of the nation, stature of the era”, featuring 135 photographs from 1954 - 1969 and the book “135 Stories about Uncle Ho”. The exhibition will open on the morning of May 16. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the relic site and view a wide range of documents and artefacts that provide deeper insight into President Ho Chi Minh’s life and legacy.

The Ho Chi Minh Museum, home to many of the late President’s preserved legacies, is also launching several activities. In addition to its permanent exhibitions on his life, revolutionary journey, and leadership during the two resistance wars against French and American forces, the museum will open a thematic exhibition titled “Ordinary yet noble models” on May 18.

Several heritage sites managed by the Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports such as the site at No. 48 Hang Ngang Street (where President Ho Chi Minh wrote the Declaration of Independence) and the national relic “President Ho Chi Minh’s residence and workplace in December 1946” (where he wrote the Call for National Resistance), are currently undergoing restoration and maintenance.

According to the Ha Noi Monuments and Scenic Sites Management Board, these locations are being updated with new artefacts and documents to better serve visitors. The No. 48 Hang Ngang site continues to receive registered tour groups, while the national relic “President Ho Chi Minh’s residence and workplace in December 1946” at No. 8A Ly Nam De Street remains open daily to the public. Newly added materials help visitors gain deeper insight into the revolutionary activities of President Ho Chi Minh.

At the Hoa Lo Prison relic site, the commemoration of the 135th anniversary is amplified through communication campaigns. Historical stories highlighting President Ho Chi Minh’s leadership in the national liberation movement are widely shared on the site's official fan page, attracting strong interest from young audiences. In addition, the exhibition “Melodies of Peace”, featuring artefacts from the resistance war against the US and the country’s reunification, remains on display.

Tuan Chau - Ha Noi Tourism Complex is also hosting a series of activities to celebrate the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh. The highlight will be a special performance titled “From the kitchen smoke of Sen Village to the horizon of independence” on May 17. The programme includes a traditional Northern-style food fair; an exhibition tracing President Ho Chi Minh’s life from his birth in Sen Village to the Declaration of Independence; a lotus dance performance; Essence of the North show; historical film screenings; and fireworks to close the event.

A wide range of displays, exhibitions, and educational activities about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and career are taking place, and will continue to take place, at heritage sites and tourist destinations, promising to offer valuable materials and insights for both the public and visitors on the occasion of his 135th birth anniversary.
