Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien works with representative of Star Cruises

(TITC) - On 26 November 2015, in Ha Noi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien had a meeting with Vice President Cruise Operations at Genting Hong Kong Limited, Mr. Raymond Lim.

Genting Hong Kong Limited (Genting Hong Kong) belongs to Genting Group (Malaysia) - a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality enterprise, operating in both land and sea-based businesses including Star Cruises in the Asia-Pacific.

Since 1993, Genting Hong Kong in association with Saigontourist has shipped international tourists to Viet Nam by Star Cruises. Viet Nam is expected to welcome 25 Star Cruise ships with 25,000 passengers in two end months of 2015, particularly from November 2015 to December 2016, there will be many large ships with a capacity of over 4,000 passengers berthing at Viet Nam’s ports to visit several interesting places in Viet Nam.

According to Mr. Raymond Lim, Viet Nam should facilitate cruise passengers by visa exemption; in addition to investing, upgrading the infrastructure of ports to meet to increasing demands of tourists as well as to prolong the length of stay in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien appreciated contributions of Star Cruises to sending international tourists to Viet Nam and agreed with the plan of Star Cruises in the coming time. Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will propose government to consider visa exemption for cruise passengers to Viet Nam and focus on promoting entertainment services, investing infrustruture of ports to serve best for tourists.
