Photo exhibition on Ha Noi, Hue to open
Update: Apr 13, 2016
A Ha Noi photo exhibition, showcasing 30 photos of Ha Noi and Hue, will run from April 14th to 24th. The photographs are the works of Sebastien Laval, a photographer from Poitiers, France.

A second exhibition of Laval’s photographs will also be held at La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa, Hue, from April 29th to May 4th.

Laval came to Viet Nam in the 1990s to study the lifestyles of ethnic minority groups in the northern region of Viet Nam. He started recording rare moments in Ha Noi and Hue in 2007.

Laval used no artificial light for his photos, which were taken at night between 6pm to 6am. His works captured surreal scenes of Ha Noi and Hue, including long rails running through to darkness, quiet lanes in deep night, and small street shops flooded with streetlights.

Laval’s photographic works were displayed during the Hue festival in 2008, 2010, and 2014. During this year’s festival, he intends to stage an exhibition coinciding with the publication of his new book, “Huế - City of Crying Stones.”

After the exhibition, Laval’s photos will be displayed at the Art Viet Nam Gallery on 24 Ly Quoc Su Street, Ha Noi.
