Deputy Head of North-West Steering Committee Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh speaks to open the press conference

The press conference had the attendances of Deputy Head of North-West Steering Committee - Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh; Deputy Director General of VNAT - Mr. Ngo Hoai Chung; Chairman of Viet Nam Tourism Association Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho; leaders of People’s Committees and Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 8 Greater North-West provinces; representatives of departments of North-West Steering Committee, VNAT, BIDV and Vietnam Airlines; and numerous of enterprises, investors and press agencies.

Speaking to open the press conference, Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh - Deputy Head of North-West Steering Committee introduced the potentials and strengths as well as difficulties and limitations, orientation, views and goals of tourism development in the North-West. Ms. Hanh hopes, the joint force of people throughout the country for the North-West along with the cooperation of the media, press agencies will contribute to promoting more widely the image of North-West tourism and also open new opportunities for developing North-West tourism.

Following that, Director of Lao Cai’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Mr. Ha Van Thang presented the report about the potentials, resources and conditions for tourism development in the North-West; typical tourism events and products of 8 North-West provinces expected to invest, exploit for Visit Viet Nam Year 2017; and the plan to organize the conference on tourism promotion and investment of Lao Cai Province in 2016. Mr. Ha Van Thang said, at present, the Viet Nam Government, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and ministries, industries and North-West Steering Committee give the special attention to North-West provinces. Besides, actively preparation for Visit Viet Nam Year 2017 and coordination and support of the organizations, enterprises and localities are factors for North-West tourism to continue sustainable development.

Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang - Deputy General Director of BIDV – the consultant, sponsor and co-organizer of the conference on tourism promotion and investment of Lao Cai Province in 2016 said, the bank commits to support tourism promotion activities of Lao Cai Province and call customers to invest in a number of key economic sectors of the province and contribute to the tourism development of Lao Cai Province and also the North-West.

At the press conference, North-West Steering Committee, representatives of Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of North-West provinces also answered some topics such as: exploiting more effectively rich tourism potentials of the North-West; improving the quality of tourism services; attracting investment to build and develop tourism infrastructure...
