(TITC) – The Viet Nam International Travel Mart – VITM Ha Noi 2016 officially closed on 17 April after four days with a series of activities.

According to the Organizing Board, VITM Ha Noi 2016 attracted the participation of 734 agencies and enterprises with 502 booths, including 115 international booths from 25 countries and territories. There were about 2,500 enterprises and approximately 58,000 visitors attending the mart with over 15,000 domestic and outbound tours purchased and around 30,000 air tickets directly sold at the mart.
The tourism enterprises actively responded to the theme of VITM Ha Noi 2016 “Viet Nam – The paradise of sea and island tourism” by introducing photos and information on sea, island resources of Viet Nam.
The highlights of VITM Ha Noi 2016 were two common houses of the Northwest Region and the Central Highlands - South Central Region with unique designs, specific regional products and traditional art performances.

At the mart, the online tourist information portal www.tripi.vn was put into operation and attracted around 92,860 hits to find products and 9,200 downloads of the application software for smart phones. There were 25 travel agencies registered to participate in the VITM’s online transaction platform.
In addition, 7 seminars and 10 press conferences were held during the VITM Ha Noi 2016 with the aim of introducing products and proposing measures to develop tourism sector into a key economic industry of the country.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Board awarded the largest and most impressive booths and the enterprises offering the most effective stimulus programs contributing to the success of the mart.
The 2017 VITM is expected to be organized at Thang Long Royal Citadel in April, 2017.
