Da Nang city will open Son Tra night market and shopping space on the east side of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge for pedestrians on June 12th.
Vice chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, Ho Ky Minh said the city has assigned a large area on Ly Nam De, Mai Hac De and Phung Khac Khoan streets for the night market with 150 pavilions of souvenirs, food and specialties of Da Nang and the central region.
He said the market would open from 6pm till 12pm daily, and is reserved for pedestrians from evening to midnight.
It’s the first regular night market and pedestrian space in the central city.
The city also launched its first downtown shopping centre on Le Duan Street, with a 1.1km section from Ong Ich Khiem to Tran Phu junction last year.
Earlier, the city opened a night food centre in Huynh Thuc Khang Street.
Da Nang hosted 5.6 million tourists, of which 1.67 million were foreigners, in 2016.
The city also plans to build a 4.4ha Central Square project in the city’s downtown that will serve as a landmark tourism attraction, shopping and public entertainment site including Bach Dang, Phan Chau Trinh, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Hung Vuong streets, Le Duan and Pham Hong Thai.
