(TITC) – On 21 April, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism’s (VNAT’s) Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong had a meeting with Mr. Jouni Ahonen – Vice Rector of Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), representative of Finnish University Hub Project.
The Finnish University Hub Project financed by Finnish Government aims at pursuing Viet Nam to set up a training centre which consists of English and Finnish language studies, basic academic studies; besides introduce Finland’s culture and economy. The project also provides programs in preparation for Vietnamese students coming to Finland for bachelor’s or master’s studies.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Jouni Ahonen said they would like to study the demand for tourism occupational training and seek opportunity to cooperate with Viet Nam tourism industry.
Spoke highly of the Finnish University Hub Project in Viet Nam, VNAT’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong stressed that Viet Nam always focuses on training high-quality human resource. Currently, Viet Nam has many tourism training establishments and about 5,000 people involving tourism training activities, including 2000 lecturers.
Notably, Viet Nam has developed Tourism Occupational Standards (VTOS) covering two major divisions within the tourism sector (hospitality and travel) with six key and four specialist occupational areas.
Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong informed that Viet Nam is striving to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector. Hence, there is a high demand for high-quality human resource. The Project should collaborate with tourism occupational training facilities in Viet Nam to choose potential students for further training, which would help improve quality of tourism working force in Viet Nam.
