The central city plans to turn An Thuong quarter in coastal Ngu Hanh Son District into the first tourism area catering to late night shopping and entertainment.

Deputy director of the city’s tourism department, Nguyen Xuan Binh, told Viet Nam News the project would be bounded by four main streets – Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Ke Viem, Chau Thi Vinh Te and Ngo Thi Si
Binh said the area would reserve five streets for pedestrians – An Thuong 1, An Thuong 2, An Thuong 3 and An Thuong 4 and Tran Bach Dang. An international shopping centre will also be located in the quarter.
An Thuong quarter has a busy tourism scene. It has 141 travel agencies, 64 hotels and guest houses and home-stays, 43 restaurants and 12 shopping centres.
It also hosts around 1,400 tourists a day during the high season (between April and September) and 650 visitors each day in the low season.
Nearly 300,000 tourists, of whom 74,000 were foreigners, stayed in the quarter in 2017.
Two years ago, Da Nang launched its first downtown shopping centre on Le Duan Street, with a 1.1km section from Ong Ich Khiem to Tran Phu junction, and a night food centre in Huynh Thuc Khang Street.
Da Nang hosted 6.6 million tourists, of which 2.3 million were foreigners, last year.
However, the city has been lacked of international night entertainment service for tourists while spending long vacation.
