Can Tho targets 8 million tourists in 2018

The southwestern city of Can Tho strives to greet more than 8 million foreign travellers in 2018, grossing revenue of about VND3.5 trillion, reported Mr. Le Minh Son, Deputy Director of the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in a conference on January 25th.

Aiming to achieve the target, the city has been implementing many comprehensive tourism development solutions, and continues to invest and upgrade a number of specific tourism products such as Cai Rang floating market, river travel routes, islets along Hau River, landscape of Ninh Kieu wharf, Can Tho pedestrian bridge and Hau river park.

In addition, Can Tho is piloting guitar performance models and calligraphy writing art at Ninh Kieu Wharf and develop Don ca tai tu singing on river and traditional craft village in combination with tourism.

The hub will organize the Tan Loc fruit garden festival in mid-June, Cai Rang floating market culture festival in July, Ninh Kieu flower garlands and coloured lanterns night festival, Phong Dien eco-tourism festival, and O Mon tourism culture festival to attract more tourists.

Currently, Can Tho has 54 enterprises operating in tourism and travel, 270 accommodation establishments with 6,931 rooms, and 26 tourism gardens with a system of comprehensive infrastructure and techniques.

In 2017, the city greeted more than 7.3 million tourists, marking the highest rate in the Mekong Delta, and grossing revenue of more than VND2.897 trillion (about 127.3 million).
