The tourism site is also rolling out a range of new services to fulfill nature lovers’ expectation, including jogging, biking through forests, camping, night fishing and bird-watching.
Vam Sat, in the heart of Can Gio Mangrove Forest, a world-class biological reserve endorsed by UNESCO in 2000, was acknowledged as one of the world’s most sustainable ecological sites by the World Tourism Organization (WTO).
At Vam Sat tourist site, it would be a mistake not to mention Dam Doi (Bat Lagoon) and Tram Chim, which are both nature reserves for research purposes.
Covering an area of 602.5 hectares, Tram Chim is home to 26 bird species including 11 water birds. The period from April to October is known as the bird nesting season in Tram Chim area as nature enthusiasts will have a chance to witness a breathtaking natural scene of thousands of bird families.
Meanwhile, Dam Doi is a dense mangrove forest where hundreds of bats are residing. Travelers can take a boat trip around the forest to watch these flying rodents.
Tourists are recommended to head along Huynh Tan Phat Street from HCMC to get to Binh Khanh ferry. After passing the ferry, continue traveling to Can Gio beach and turn right at Ly Nhon intersection. Then, they have to cross Vam Sat and Goc Tre bridges to reach Vam Sat tourist area.
Those afraid of scorching sunshine are advised to join river tours designed by Saigontourist Travel Service Co., an arm of Saigontourist Holding Company, or take a bus at September 23 Park in District 1 to get to Vam Sat.
