Hai Duong kicks off tourism cultural festival to welcome New Year

Hai Duong province launched a tourism cultural festival on the evening of December 30 to welcome New Year 2019, including a street carnival with the participation of 2,000 artists.

The event saw the presence of Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member, Secretary the PCC and Head of the PCC's Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai; and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
 
This is the first time that Hai Duong has organised such a big event, which included song and dance performances and a street carnival with the participation of 2,000 artists from domestic art troupes and from Laos and the Republic of Korea.
 
Art performances featuring economic, cultural and social achievements of Hai Duong over recent years attracted tens of thousands of local residents despite the cold weather.
 
The three-day event, which will conclude on January 1, 2019,is expected to promote local culture, preserve traditional value, and fuel the development of Hai Duong economy and tourism.
 
“Activities of the tourism cultural festival demonstrate the comprehensive socio-economic achievements as well as the potential and strengths of Hai Duong province. At the same time, the event honours the traditional cultural values and quintessence of the province,” said Chairman of Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duong Thai.
 
He added that the festival is also an opportunity for people nationwide to get better understanding the land and people of a province with dynamic, hospitable and rich identity.
 
The festival further serves as a space to showcase typical products of local firms; agricultural, industrial and tourism strengths; ornamental creatures; street food; and others.
