According to the Newspaper of Natural Resources and Environment, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee informed that in recent years, the development of agricultural and rural tourism, community-based tourism has contributed to improving the cultural and spiritual life for local people. The combination of rural tourism and ecotourism in the community is increasingly closely linked, which has preserved the unique cultural values ​​of Hue, thereby creating momentum for Thua Thien Hue tourism step by step to develop and attract more and more visitors.

Currently, Thua Thien Hue Province has had a number of tours combining community tourism to experience agricultural production such as: Thanh Tra pomelo garden in Thuy Bieu (Hue City), model of growing hydroponic vegetables, greenhouse melon or sunflower gardens in the heart of the city or in Thuy Thanh (Huong Thuy Town), the clean vegetable garden in A Luoi District, etc.

In addition, farmstay and homestay are new types of tourist accommodation establishments that have appeared in the area since 2017. These models are the highlight of the guests’ experience about pristine agricultural and rural lands as well as different types of community cultures, cuisines of different regions and indigenous habitants.

Every year, on average, Thua Thien Hue receives about 300,000 visitor arrivals coming to experience rural tourism and community-based tourism; the revenue from agricultural and rural tourism services is estimated at VND 50 billion/ year. These types of tourism contribute to the development of the local economy; support the community in exploiting and selling products from agriculture and handicrafts to visitors.

Farmstay at A Luoi

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee affirmed that farmstay, homestay, farm tourism and community-based tourism are the models of sustainable tourism development with the motto of environmental protection, preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the indigenous habitants, promoting the value of the natural landscape, ecology, the value of available agriculture and forestry in the area in combination with the development of production and tourism services.

In order to further develop the agricultural and rural tourism, he proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related sectors to consider guiding on land management in exploitation for tourism development; guiding localities in planning and developing policies to support product and service development for each type of tourism; developing legal documents regulating standards for farmstay, agricultural cooperatives combined with tourism...

Thua Thien Hue is one of the localities with potentials to develop agricultural rural tourism and community-based tourism. However, in order for these tourism types to be more effective reinforcement in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee pays attention to direct the implement the Decree No. 52/2018/ND-CP of Government on rural career development in Thua Thien Hue; to consolidate and build a number of key models for agricultural and rural tourism; to review local mechanisms and policies to ensure land management, training rural labor force, and food safety and hygiene.
