Update: Apr 20, 2009
Three Swedish celebrity chefs will show off their skills at a special one-week event, the Nordic Gala Feast, featuring authentic Scandinavian food and music at Hotel Equatorial on April 24.

The chefs include Gert Klotzke, author of several cookbooks, host of a television cooking show, and lecturer and professor of food science.

Magnus Johanson, winner of a culinary world cup in Basel, Switzerland and at the Olympics in Erfurt, Germany will also take part, as well as Niclas Wahlstiom, executive chef from Den Gyldence Freden, one of the most famous and oldest restaurants in Sweden.

Chef Gert Klotzke earned several cooking awards including Overall Winner with the National Culinary Team in the World Culinary Olympics in 2002 and in 2004.

These celebrities will present a delightful selection of tempting dishes with flavours of the Nordic nations, from Denmark, Norway, Finland to Iceland and Sweden. All meals will be complemented with wines from the world’s well-known brands.

The Nordic Gala Feast will run at the hotel’s Chit Chat Café and the Orientica Restaurant, with Nordic decoration, and favourite pieces of music from the popular Swedish group ABBA.

The highlight of the event will be a Nordic and Swedish dinner at the Orientica on April 25 and April 29. The Nordic dinner will feature a six-course set menu while the Swedish one will present a five-course set menu with dishes designed by each chef.

The two mouthwatering wine dinners will feature tartar of salmon, mushroom soup, steamed cod with scallops, lamb loin in garden herbs, garlic, vegetable dill sauce, lingonberries and wines from local dealers Kangaroo, Vino and the Warehouse Company.

Another part of the special week will be devoted to Scandinavian cooking classes where the three chefs will present their special dishes on April 24, 27 and 28 at the Chit Chat Cafe.
