In 1914, he built a wooden house at the top of the mountain to live and study medicine. The house has been restored by the Provincial People's Committee on the old foundation. Yersin (1863-1943) came to Nha Trang in 1891 and spent nearly half a century of living and working there until his death.

Dr. Yersin released 55 scientific research works that are valuable to human life. He brought multiple varieties of plant, including rubber, cocoa, coffee, and tea from Europe to grow in Vietnam. He discovered the Lang Biang Plateau in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

He founded the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute in 1895, the Hanoi Pasteur Institute in 1926, and the Da Lat Pasteur Institute in 1936. Yersin was also the founder and the first principal of the Indochina Medicine School, now the Hanoi Medical University and the Hanoi University of Pharmacy.
