Mr Laurent, a visitor from France, explored artefacts at the Museum of Folk Culture, photographing traditional tools and handmade objects. For him, Hoi An culture is so rich and distinctive, and everything is fresh and impressive.

The Museum of Folk Culture is one of four stops in the new tour “An Immersive Journey - Touching Heritage”, launched on December 1, 2025. The tour helps visitors view exhibits and join hands-on folk culture experiences at each site.

At the Museum of Folk Culture, visitors can “step into the past” by wearing traditional outfits, enjoying local cuisine, playing folk games, and practising calligraphy.

The Museum of Traditional Medicine offers herbal foot soaks, acupressure massage, and tastings of herbal teas while introducing traditional healing knowledge passed down through generations.

At the Local Products Museum, guests can join a recreated village market, take part in hands-on craft activities, and enjoy a “Taste - Guess - Learn” challenge featuring local specialities.

According to Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Deputy Director of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, this is the first tour linking thematic museums to deepen visitors’ understanding of Hoi An and Quang Nam’s cultural history.

All four museums lie along the connected streets Tran Phu and Nguyen Thai Hoc, creating a coherent story of the city’s centuries-long development. The tour diversifies tourism offerings and helps the public more directly “touch” and appreciate Hoi An’s heritage.

Visitors practise classical Chinese calligraphy during the museum tour.

The tour will be refined after the pilot phase, with added cultural and artistic activities, before becoming a regular offering, ensuring a richer visitor experience with options suitable in all weather conditions.
