On February 25, the People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province held a press briefing to promote the annual first Vietnam Fruit Festival, which is slated April 19-24, 2010.
The festival, with more than 700 stalls hawking hundreds of fruits from various regions of the country will also feature agriculture and bonsai exhibitions, seminars on developing trademarks for the Vietnamese fruits on the world market, song & dance performances, and sports competition.
The event hopes to introduce Vietnamese fruit specialties to more domestic and foreign consumers. And, according to Tran The Ngoc, Chairman of the Tien Giang People’s Committee and Head of the festival’s organization board, the festival provides farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs a chance to share their experiences in producing, preserving and processing fruit products, and to seek partners to help them expand their markets.
