Japanese art of flower arrangement showcased in Vietnam
Update: Sep 01, 2010
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, will be on show at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House on September 12-13 and at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi September 16-19.

The event is organised by the Japanese Cultural Exchange Centre to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Flower arrangements by Professor Sasaki Yasihito, Japan’s top Ikebana artists, will be on display.

Ikebana artists say that using a plant’s stems, leaves, and flowers to make special designs shows nature’s beauty and vitality as well as human emotions.

Japanese Ikebana appeared 550 years ago and has virtually become a “religion” over the centuries.
