HCM City develops tourism

Ho Chi Minh City has launched different programmes to develop its tourism sector, including “river tourism”, “HCM City- 100 interesting things” and standard tourism with art performances.

The city has also stepped up promotion activities and regularly organised exhibitions and fairs overseas.

In coordination with the Institute of Tourism Development Research, the city has drawn up a ten-year plan for tourism development until 2020 with a vision for 2030 under which it will closely cooperate with Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen provinces.

Many hotels in HCM City are being upgraded with new facilities and services, such as REX and Movenpick.

The number of foreign visitors to the city reached more than 2.4 million over the past nine months, up 11 percent over the same period last year. Total tourism revenues hit VND34,000 billion, equal to 70 percent of this year’s target and up 21 percent more than last year’s figure.
