A direct air route connecting the Russian capital Moscow and Vietnam's central coastal city of Nha Trang will be launched on April 5, said the Vietnam National flag carrier (Vietnam Airlines).

The route would run one flight per week on Friday, using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. Flights from Nha Trang will depart from Cam Ranh International Airport at 10:25 am and return flights start at 20:00 (local time), estimated flying time is around ten and a half hours.

The round-trip fare is starting at VND10.5 million in the promotional period, available for passengers purchasing ticket in Vietnam booking offices between April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014 (not in the period of April 30 - May 1, 2013). The ticket prices do not include taxes, fees and surcharges.

According to Mr Trinh Ngoc Thanh, Vietnam Airlines Vice General Director, this is the third direct air route linking Vietnam and Russia operated by the Airline. The new direct route is expected to diversify domestic tourism products and bring more Russian guests to Vietnam and the connecting regional destinations in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The carrier is expected to double flights per week from this October to meet passenger demand.

Last year, the nation welcomed around 180,000 Russian tourists, 82,000 of whom visited central coastal Khanh Hoa province. A majority of the Russian guests came from nine cities of Far East Russia through Cam Ranh International Airport.
