Quang Ngai has first Heritage Tree
Update: Apr 08, 2013
A 220 year old Thi (diospyros decandra) tree in the central province of Quang Ngai has been recognised as a Heritage Tree, the first in the province.

The recognition was made by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment.

The 25-m tree stands at the site of the Le family's ancestral temple in Hanh Phuoc commune, Nghia Hanh district. According to Le family records, it was planted by Le Phu Tri, a mandarin of the Tay Son Dynasty when he chose the area to settle down after the victory of King Quang Trung over the Qing invaders.

The Le family temple is listed by the province as a provincial-level cultural and historic relic.
