The 2013 Bach Dang Festival officially kicked off in Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province on April 16 and is attracting a large number of visitors from across the country.
The four-day festival includes worshiping ceremonies at Tran Hung Dao, Trung Ban, Trung Coc, and Den Cong temples. Additionally, a procession of Saint Tran Hung Dao statue, a recounting of the battle on the Bach Dang River and other folk games, as well as cultural activities are also held during the festival.
The Quang Yen Town People's Committee also organised a ceremony today to receive a certificate recognising Dong Ma Ngua stake yard as a national historical site.
The stake yard was discovered in 2005 and scientists have affirmed it was one of the stake traps hidden in Bach Dang River, which contributed to Vietnam's victory over Mongol invaders in 1288 under the leadership of General Tran Hung Dao.
