Vice Chairman of Hue municipal People's Committee, Nguyen Dang Thanh, said that the organizing board built 20 post and beam structures on Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking road along the banks of the Huong (Perfume) River to display products from craft villages.

The event drew 200 artisans from 21 well-known craft villages across the country who are displaying their wares, most notably Bat Trang ceramics, Quang Nam terracotta, and Binh Hiep lacquerware, as well as brocades from Lung Tien silk from Van Phuc silk.

Well-known craft villages are also showing their products at the festival including knitting from Bao La, embroidery produced in Duc Thanh and Thuan Loc, Phu Cam traditional conical hats and kites from Hue.

Tourists at the festival can watch the artisans at work and also buy some of their products.

Garments and textiles made by French and international craftspeople and Japanese designed bamboo items are also being exhibited at the festival for the first time. The

"Unique Impression" showroom features 80 vintage and contemporary textile patterns demonstrating the skills of French stylists Francoixe Hoffmann, Sophia and Francis Dravigny, as well as others from around the world such as Patis Tesoro, Kinor Jiang, Shu SUN, Rui XU, Dang Thi Minh Hanh, Paula Leal, Sannata Magassa, and Aboubakar Fofana.

Another highlight is the original bamboo work designed by Masao Ueno from Japan and made by the artisans of the Bao La weaving village in Thua Thien-Hue province.

Various other events took place the same day including the opening of a gallery of traditional crafts and contemporary art, Hue kite performances and calligraphy.
