The Vietnam Festival 2013 will be organized in Tokyo on September 14-15 and in Nagoya on September 21-22 as part of activities to celebrate 40 years of establishing Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.
This is the sixth year the event will be held in Japan but this is the first time such festival will take place outside the capital Tokyo.
In a recent meeting with Vietnamese ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung, Governor of Aichi Prefecture Hideaki Omura expressed his excitement that Nagoya City will have the opportunity to play host to the festival for the first time, and said he hopes the event will attract a lot of people from both countries.
In an interview granted to a Tokyo-based VOV correspondent, Omura said that many companies in Aichi have already expressed an interest in sponsoring the Vietnam Festival 2013, which is beneficial to the Vietnam business community and forges further links between the Prefecture and Vietnam.
He also noted that Vietnamese students already top the list of Asian students in Aichi, opening plenty of opportunity for cooperation between the two sides after they graduate and work in the commercial sector.
A group of volunteers, including young Vietnamese and Japanese people, have been set up to promote the festival in the prefecture. They will wear Vietnam's traditional dress and take rickshaws to grab people's attention.
The event is within the framework of Vietnamese Days in Japan, which will be held in Japan's Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Aichi and Fukuoka, featuring many activities such as festive days, art performances and seminars on investment promotion.
