Seminar on current situation of and solutions to developing tourism at traditional craft villages

(TITC) - In the framework of the Traditional Craft Villages Festival 2013 of Hanoi and Red River Delta's provinces, the Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) organized a seminar on "Current situation of and solutions to developing tourism at traditional craft villages, craft streets of Hanoi and the provinces in the Red River Delta 2013"on 9th October 2013 at Hanoi Daewoo Hotel.

 

 

 

In attendance were Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Director General of VNAT; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director General of VNAT; Mr. Vu The Binh - Vice President of VITA; Ms. Dao Thu Vinh - Deputy Director of Hanoi's Industry and Trade Department and Mr. Mai Tien Dung - Deputy Director of Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and representatives of relevant agencies.

 

Some speeches on tourism development associated with the Hanoi's craft village development, current situation of and solutions to developing tourism at Hanoi's traditional craft villages... had been presented at the seminar.

 

Speaking at the seminar, VNAT's Director General Nguyen Van Tuan mentioned four criteria to develop the craft villages into attractive destinations; including typical traditional crafts, infrastructure investment, abilities to provide tourism services, destination management (management of service quality, price, security and safety for tourists). Simultaneously, he also suggested some solutions as tourism development associated with craft village development, connection of craft villages (between craft villages in the city and in the suburb, Hanoi's craft villages and neighboring provinces’ ones) to form new tourist routes...

 

The seminar aimed to evaluate the current situation of craft village tourism, develop craft village tourism products, and contribute to promoting, preserving the traditional cultural values of craft villages in Hanoi and neighboring provinces.
