HCMC will organize numerous entertainment activities for local people during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, including three city-level spring flower markets and 125 flower selling points in 18 districts, the city’s leaders told a meeting on Tet flower festivals and markets on Tuesday.
A Spring Flower Festival will be held at Tao Dan Cultural Park from the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month to the sixth day of the first lunar month, featuring unique and beautiful flowers, ornamental fish and other decorations.
On this occasion, the city will have three large flower markets at September 23 Park, Gia Dinh Park and Le Van Tam Park, which will all open from the 23rd to the 30th of the 12th lunar month. Besides, 125 Tet flower selling points have also been given permission from the local government to open in 18 districts while other flower markets in districts 7 and 8 will be allowed to open for longer, from the 15th to the 30th of the 12th lunar month.
This year Nguyen Hue Flower Street, an annual event attracting millions of visitors during the Tet holiday, will be organized from the 28th of the 12th lunar month to the fourth of the first lunar month under the theme of “HCMC – The City I Love”.
According to Saigontourist Holding Company, the organizer of the flower street, all necessary steps for the event have been prepared by the firm. Detailed information on the flower street will be announced by the company later this week.
Along with the aforesaid events, local residents will continue to have a chance of admiring book street and a number of roads which will be decorated with lighting in the central downtown area during the traditional festival.
