Phu Quoc island welcomes first Russian flight
Update: Feb 17, 2014
A Russian Ikar Airlines plane landed at Phu Quoc Air Terminal at 08.20am on February, bringing 250 Russia visitors to the district island.

This is the first time the terminal has received a Russian flight.

This is the result of cooperation between Phu Quoc Air Terminal of Vietnam, Pegas Tourist of Turkey and Anh Duong Tourist Company of HCM City.

The concerned parties agreed to run a flight from Russia to Phu Quoc every week, using Boeing 757s.

Construction of Phu Quoc Air Terminal began on November 23, 2008, using 100% of investment capital from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam – the first of its kind in the Vietnam aviation industry.

In 2013, the airport received approximately 700,000 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 39%, and 37% of the total were foreigners.

It has met the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s 4E standard capable of receiving Boeing 777s and Boeing 747-400s or others of equivalent.

Vietnam airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar Pacific are currently operating 25 flights per day from Phu Quoc to Hanoi, Can Tho and HCM City and vice versa using A321s, A320s and ATR72s.
