Some 60 art performances will be held across Ha Noi between October 9 and 11 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day (October 10), according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The performances to praise the capital’s victories in the past resistance wars and socio-economic achievements in its current building process will be participated by local professional art troupes and those from neighbouring provinces.
In addition, various public cultural activities will be held with a lion dance festival, Hoa Binh culture day, a street show, and a Fashion show highlighting Vietnamese traditional long dress to name but a few.
Under this plan, on the liberation day, the city’s sky will be lit by fireworks displays that will be launched from 30 venues throughout the capital city, including five high-range fireworks to be set off from Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, West Lake, Van Quan Lake and My Dinh National Stadium.
Currently, an array of activities is taking place celebrating the Liberation Day.
A month-long photograph exhibition capturing nine national relic sites in Ha Noi is underway at the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Viet Nam's first university, since September 24.
It showcases nearly 100 photographs and maps of the President Ho Chi Minh relic site, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Co Loa Citadel, Van Mieu–Quoc Tu Giam, Hat Mon, Hai Ba Trung and Phu Dong temples, Hoan Kiem lake–Ngoc Son temple, and Tay Dang communal house.
At the Royal Citadel Heritage site, there is a Ha Noi Book Fair, which aims to improve citizens' reading habits and focuses particularly on young readers.
Opened on September 26, the week-long event saw 45 publishing houses from across the country occupying 112 booths with their latest publications including children's books, works by Vietnamese authors and translations at discounted prices.
The book fair hosts seven book exhibitions, each with unique themes – Ha Noi's past and present, late President Ho Chi Minh in Ha Noi and some beautifully designed publications.
There will also be a slew of book-related arts-and-crafts activities, including a calligraphy performance and a bookmark decoration event.
Donated books will be distributed to local libraries, schools, post offices and cultural houses in poor communes in Ha Noi, Truong Sa (Spratly) island district and Khanh Hoa province.
