The Viet Nam-Japan Festival 2014 opened at the Youth Cultural House in Ho Chi Minh City on October 26, attracting the participation of thousands of students and other young people.
This year’s event offered visitors a chance to experience unique Japanese culture through a wide range of activities including Origami (paper folding art), yukata (an informal, unlined kimono made of cotton) wearing, Harajuku and Shibuya fashion shows, film show, Ninja disguise, Karate martial art performance, and Japanese tea ceremony and others.
The visitors will also get information on Japan’s scholarships and incentive policy for Vietnamese students studying in the country.
Nakajima Satoshi, Consul General of Japan in HCM City said that the festival is an opportunity for the young Vietnamese people to understand more about Japanese people and traditional culture.
According to Nguyen Huu Tho, Chairman of the Viet Nam Tourism Association, the event also helps promote economic and tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan.
The tourism sectors of the two countries have committed to increase the number of Japanese visitors to Viet Nam to 1 million, and Vietnamese travellers to Japan to 200,000 in the coming years.
