Some 30 pictures and 15 panels of Ha Noi ancient quarter’s culture and daily life are on display at an exhibition held in Paris, France.
The 11-day exhibition is hosted by the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in conjunction with the Vietnamese Embassy in France and the Ha Noi People's Committee. The event was opened on September 09 as part of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
The exhibit aims to appeal to the Vietnamese community living in France, particularly through images of Ha Noi's ancient streets and its efforts to preserve its rich heritage.
Former Hanoians will recognise familiar images of street corners, food vendors and young women wearing the traditional ao dai attire. For some, those images bring feelings of comfort.
Memories of familiar old streets with old men reading newspapers, food vendors and young women in the long traditional Ao Dai were brought back to people who once lived in Ha Noi.
This is the first exhibition on the old Ha Noi held in France, Vietnamese-French painter Nam Tran said, praising the wonderful pictures and photos depicting a charming Ha Noi.
Meanwhile, Publication Director of the Francophonie Actualites magazine Joseph Ahekoe stated that the exhibition reminds him of his delightful visit to Ha Noi, the thousand-year-old city.
The free exhibition will run until September 19.
