(TITC) - In the framework of ITE HCMC 2015, on 9 Sept 2015, leaders of Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had meetings with ACMECS countries and signed tourism cooperation documents with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
At the meetings, the ACMECS member countries (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam) agreed to continue enhancing tourism cooperation, luring intra-regional and transit tourists, creating transnational tours, developing tourism human resources in participation for ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP), improving standard and quality of tourism services.
On this occasion, Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed bilateral tourism cooperation documents with three of ACMECS countries including Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar which focused on boosting exchange tourist flows, facilitating transport, exchanging information about tourism products and policies, supporting to organize and take part in international tourism events, developing tourism human resource, establishing working groups to effectively deploy joint promotional activities.
The cooperation presented a commitment of ACMECS nations to support each other heading towards the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community, promote branding "Five countries - one destination" in order to bring ACMECS to become an attractive destination of the region and the world.
Recently, tourists exchange among CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Viet Nam) and ACMECS has achieved remarkable results. In 2014, the number of international tourists to CLMV reached 19.6 million arrivals, increasing by 11.4% over 2013; of the total, intra-regional tourists occupied 16%. In 2014, the number of international tourists to ACMECS was 44 million arrivals, of which intra-regional tourists accounted for 19%.
