The 2016 Tet flower street of Ho Chi Minh City will be held on the Nguyen Hue pedestrian mall, according to the Ho Chi Minh City municipal People’s Committee.
The flower street themed “Ho Chi Minh City – Peace, Integration and Development” will open on the 27th of the last lunar month - one day earlier than last year - and will last until the fifth of the first lunar month of the next year.
To celebrate the new lunar year, a book street will also be held on Ngo Duc Ke, Dong Khoi and Mac Thi Buoi streets and connected to the flower street.
Additional 10 streets will be decorated with lights from the beginning of 2016 until the end of Lunar New Year celebrations.
The flower street was held for the first time during the 2014 Lunar New Year festival, together with the book street which has been organised since the 2011 Lunar New Year celebration, becoming an indispensable cultural event for the city.
The annual event is organised under different themes, attracting millions of local residents and visitors during the Tet holiday. For the 2015 Lunar New Year festival, the flower street was held on Ham Nghi Road due to construction of the metro station on Nguyen Hue Street.
