Photo exhibition features Vietnamese village communal houses
Update: Nov 23, 2015
A photo exhibition, featuring the beauty of village communal houses in Ha Noi’s western area, opened on November 19 at Ha Noi Museum, as part of activities to celebrate Viet Nam's Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).

Over 200 works displayed highlight the unique architectural and cultural features of the communal houses in Ha Noi’s western area, including Tay Dang, Chu Quyen, Ha Hiep, Dai Phung and Thuy Phieu.

The pictures were taken by Tran Trung Hieu, Nguyen Hoai Nam and Dinh Quang, who are all members of the ‘Dinh Lang Viet’ (Vietnamese communal houses) group, during their trips to villages in Ha Noi’s western area.

The exhibition offers a new insight into the ancient heritages while helping visitors to understand more about the art of carving in the previous centuries, especially during the 17th and 18th centuries.

The exhibition is considered as a way of raising people’s awareness on the importance of protecting communal houses while preserving and upholding their value, particularly among the youth.

The event, scheduled to run until December 15, was organised by Ha Noi Museum and the ‘Dinh Lang Viet’ (Vietnamese communal houses) group.
