(TITC) – On 25 November 2015, in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized a press conference on the implementation of Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) and towards the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
In his opening speech, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director General of VNAT affirmed that the implementation of MRA-TP facilitates labour mobility and influences all stakeholders in the tourism industry. Therefore, to gain benefits from MRA-TP and ASEAN tourism integration, stakeholders should focus on improving the quality of human resources, raising competitive ability and recruitment policies.
At the press conference, VNAT informed the implementation of MRA-TP in Viet Nam and in ASEAN. Accordingly, ASEAN member countries completed common ASEAN tourism curriculum and vocational standards for 6 key professions - front office, housekeeping, food and beverage service, food preparation, tour operators and travel agents; established ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee (ATPMC). To prepare for official implementation of MRA-TP in early 2016, Viet Nam and other ASEAN countries are focusing on signing the agreement on the establishment of Regional Secretariat; developing trainers, assessors and toolbox according to 6 professional standards; establishing National Tourism Profession Board (NTPB) and Tourism Profession Certification Board (TPCB); comparing national tourism profession standards, training programs, certification systems among member countries through ASEAN qualification reference framework to recognize tourism qualification equivalence; launching ASEAN tourism professional online registration system and software…
