Foreign tourist arrivals to Ha Noi reached nearly 3 million from the start of the year, a year-on-year rise of 14% and the capital served nearly 14.5 million domestic tourist arrivals, a 7% rise over a year earlier, reported Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of Ha Noi’s Department of Tourism.
Ha Noi greeted tourists from over 160 countries and territories with the major markets being Western Europe, Northeastern Asia, Australia and North America, said Mr. Hong.
In spite of economic difficulties, the number of foreign tourists to Ha Noi showed impressive growth during the 2010-2015 period with an average growth of more than 10%, accounting for 40% of the country’s total.
In 2015, the Hanoi tourism sector continued to improve its management efficiency, develop unique and competitive tourism products with high quality such as cultural and historical tourism, shopping and festival tourism.
Currently, the capital is focusing on investing in comprehensive and modern technical infrastructure, heightening professionalism and developing high-quality, abundant and competitive tourism products in order to make Ha Noi an attractive destination.
