Central Quang Nam Province will introduce balloon flights during Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday in Hoi An City from January, vice director of the provincial department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Tan Cuong told Viet Nam News yesterday.
Balloon in Hue Festival 2016
Cuong said it’s the newest service for tourists in Hoi An City, My Son Sanctuary and Cham Island.
He said the flight will go between Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary in Duy Xuyen district, offering a bird’s eye view for tourists of rural areas, beaches, Hoi An and old Cham towers in My Son Sanctuary.
Cuong said the Sai Gon Star company will operate the tour as a regular service from next year.
Balloon flights were featured in the biennial cultural event Hue Festival in May, and at the fifth Asian Beach Games in Da Nang in October.
The service aims to lure more tourists to the two UNESCO-recognised world heritage – Hoi An town and My Son Sanctuary – and the world biosphere of Cham Island.
Last year, the Hoi An Eco-tour Company and the Centre for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies also offered tours of nipa palm forests and opportunities to participate in afforestation efforts.
Bamboo traditional crafts tours were also launched in the village along with farm tours in Tra Que and Cam Chau garden farm.
More than 2.6 million tourists have visited Hoi An in the first 10 months of this year, a 17.92 per cent increase in comparison to last year.
