The fifth Viet Nam Art Kite Festival kicked off on December 3 at the Bien Dong Resort in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau as part of a series of events during the International Kite Festival.
The two-day festival, held by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attracted over 100 artisans from 24 kite clubs across the country.
Visitors were treated with an eye-catching display of over 300 kites of various materials and shapes, including a kite made from plastic bottles of a club in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City which conveys a message of protecting the environment.
The event was organised before the International Kite Festival to create effects and improve quality of competitions and art kites of Viet Nam, said Phan Thanh Sang, Deputy Director of the Department.
After the event, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will select the most beautiful kites for display at the International Kite Festival, which is slated for December 6 -11.
