Ho Chi Minh City to hold street art shows in pedestrian square

Street art performances will take place from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in the pedestrian square on Nguyen Hue Boulevard in downtown Ho Chi Minh City starting from this Saturday, May 13, said a source from the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department.

The public performances will be organized on a weekly basis, except days in which the city holds major events.

Pedestrians will have the opportunity to watch magic shows, music programs, musical instrument performances and dances. The country’s folk arts such as quan ho (love duet), don ca tai tu (Southern folk music) and cong chieng (gong) will also be performed.

Themes will be changed on a monthly basis. This month the theme is “Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City” with interesting performances like flashmob dances, modern dances and magic shows.

Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of the Department of Tourism, told at a press conference on the upcoming event on Monday that the department has got ready for the launch of the art performance program to entertain city residents and foreign tourists.
