Viet Nam and Italy strengthen tourism cooperation

(TITC) – On 7 September, a seminar on strengthening tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Italy was held in the framework of ITE HCMC 2017, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The seminar had the presence of Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien; Chairman of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Van Tuan; Italian Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Bianchi; Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam and tourism enterprises from the two countries.

In recent years, Viet Nam tourism has achieved significant growth. In 2016, the number of international visitors to Viet Nam were over 10 million arrivals, increasing 26% over 2015; tourism receipt reached more than VND400,000 billion, up 18.6%.

Italy, with the population of 61 million and 28 million of them travelling abroad every year, has been considered as an important and potential tourist market of many countries including Viet Nam.

The cooperation relationship between Viet Nam and Italy in many fields have been positively developed. Particularly, tourism field has been one of the most important topics discussed by leaders of the two countries. However, the exchange of tourists between the two sides has yet to meet the potentials.

Aiming to boost tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Italy, delegates suggested solutions related to boosting tourism promotion activities, supporting each other to organize and attend tourism events in both countries, supplying tourist information, creating attractive tourism products...

On the same day, Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien had worked with Italian Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Bianchi on bilateral tourism cooperation plan between Viet Nam and Italy in the coming time.
