Enhancing tourism cooperation among ASEAN and China, Japan, RoK

(TITC) – In the framework of ATF 2019, on 18 January 2019, in Ha Long, Quang Ninh, the 18th Meeting of ASEAN+3 Tourism Ministers took place under the chairmanship of Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien.

In his opening speech, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien emphasized the significance of tourism cooperation among ASEAN and three partners countries of China, Japan, Republic of Korea (RoK). In 2018, the total number of Chinese visitors to ASEAN and vice versa reached more than 50 million arrivals, including about 30 million Chinese visitor arrivals to ASEAN (+30%) and 22 million ASEAN visitor arrivals to China. In 2018, there were about 3 million ASEAN visitor arrivals to Japan (+16%) and more than 5 million Japanese visitor arrivals to ASEAN countries (+5%). The number of ASEAN visitors to RoK and Korean visitors to ASEAN achieved 2.5 million arrivals and 8 million arrivals, respectively.

He hoped that the parties would discuss solutions to boosting tourist exchange, elevating tourism cooperation among ASEAN and China, Japan, RoK, promoting cultural exchange and consolidating friendship of ASEAN+3.
