The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak will host a cuisine contest for chefs from the region at Ko Tam Community Cultural Ecological Tourism from March 13-16 in Buon Ma Thuot city.
The contest will be part of the 7th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and will attract about 50-60 cooking teams from restaurants, hotels and catering companies.
Each team will cook at least five main dishes served for 10 people. The contestants will be encouraged to cook with specialty ingredients which represent regional tastes. The contestants will be required to prepare two appetisers and desserts using coffee.
The contestants will not be allowed to use meat from wild animals and must ensure hygiene and food safety quality. The cuisine contest will aim to honour and promote traditional culture through the unique cuisines of ethnic groups and localities. It will also serve the food and drink demand at the 7th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival.
The organisers hope the contest will be a chance for the chefs to learn more about coffee and create new recipes.
The contest is also an opportunity for Dak Lak and others Central Highlands provinces to introduce and popularise the local cuisine, culture, tourism and historical relics.
