A local official yesterday said that the Son Tay government will pilot developing the pedestrian street spanning 820 meters from the headquarters of the Son Tay People’s Committee on Pho Duc Chinh Street to the Cua Tien Bridge near the Quang Trung-Nguyen Thai Hoc crossroads, reported VnExpress news site.
To meet the local residents’ demand for entertainment on the weekends, the authorities will host a wide selection of activities, including musical performances, boat racing, fishing, street performances and photo exhibitions.
Besides, the town will offer dining services, sell souvenirs and Son Tay specialties. Local households living along the pedestrian route can also set up businesses to sell their products.
Works to renovate streets adjacent to the ancient citadel and the neighboring routes have been completed, while the relevant units have also installed information boards and instruction signs on the pedestrian street.
The pedestrian street will open from 7 p.m. on Saturdays till Sundays. This will be the fourth pedestrian zone in the capital city.
