More than 6.03 million foreigners visit Vietnam in 11 months

Vietnam greeted more than 6.03 million foreigners from the start of the year to the end of November 2012, a year-on-year increase of 11.4 percent, according to the country's General Statistics Office.

Of this, tourists visiting the country for recreation reached 3.6 million (up 9.4%) , for business posted more than 1.05 million (up 17.1 percent), for visiting relatives were more than 1.04 million (up 15.5 percent) and for other purposes were 328,000 (up 3.5 percent).

The number of foreign tourists arriving in Vietnam by air was more than 5.05 million (up 11.5 percent), by sea more than 73,440 (up 94.2 percent) and by road more than 903,000 (up 6.9 percent).

China continued to lead the market, sending increasing numbers of tourists to Vietnam in the Jan-Nov period with more than 1.28 million (up 0.8 percent). Following it were the Republic of Korea at 635,930 (up 31.5 percent), Japan at 524,490 (up 20.8 percent) and the US at 407,340 (up 2.7 percent).
