During the first six months of 2013, Hanoi has welcomed nearly 9.1 million tourists, an increase of 9% over the same period last year.
The capital city received nearly 1.2 million foreign arrivals in the first half of the year, up 15% over 2012. The number of domestic visitors exceeded 7.9 million, up 8%.
To promote increased tourism, Hanoi has organised a wide variety of activities, including the 2013 Vietnam International Tourism Fair featuring more than 368 booths from 18 countries and an exhibition introducing tourism products marketed by the Council for the Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA).
The city also held a conference to implement the 2013 tourism stimulus programme and a seminar on the theme of, "Exploiting the heritage values to develop the capital's tourism".
